The Beaver Jazz Band

The Karns Jazz Band performs annually at Knoxville Jazz on the Square in Market Square downtown, in addition to other performances throughout the greater Karns community. The ensemble meets as a first-period class during the fall semester, where students study a diverse repertoire of classic jazz standards and contemporary charts. In addition to preparing performance literature, students develop a strong foundation in jazz fundamentals, including the art of improvisation and creating their own solos.
